Who we are
isitCRISPY is a site for rating films and shows on the Fry Index. It is run from New Hampshire, in the United States. “We” on this page means the people who run it. To reach us about anything here, use the Contact page.
What we collect
- Your account. Your email address, and the username you choose. If you sign in with Google, Google also gives us your name and profile picture. If you upload a profile photo, we keep a small square copy of it; your original file and anything hidden in it, such as where it was taken, are not kept.
- What you do here. Your ratings and dips, favorites, watchlist, who you follow, your Fry-Off votes, trivia answers and streak, badges, your Fry House, and what you do in watch parties (the queue, votes, scores, bells and heckles).
- Your settings. Whether you want email, and, if you turn on notifications for a device, the address your browser gives us to send them to.
- The invite list. Joining is by invitation for now, so we keep the email addresses of the people we have invited, and nothing else about them, until they join or ask to be taken off.
- Messages you send us. What you write on the Contact page, with the name and email address you choose to add.
- Technical records. Like any website, our hosting keeps short-lived logs of requests, which include IP addresses and browser types.
We do not collect your location, your contacts, payment details, or anything about what you watch elsewhere.
What other people can see
Ratings here are shared on purpose. Your profile page is public: it shows your username, your picture, and what you have done on the site, such as your ratings, favorites, badges and Fry House. Your ratings also count toward each film’s public average. What happens in a watch party is shown to the people in that party.
Your email address is never shown to anyone else.
How we use it
- To run the site: sign you in, show your ratings, work out averages, run trivia, parties and the houses.
- To send notifications and email, only if you have turned them on.
- To answer messages you send us.
- To keep the site secure and stop abuse.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Cookies and storage on your device
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner. Your browser stores only what the site needs to work: your sign-in session, a few preferences (such as a notice you dismissed), and a rating you started before signing in. Cloudflare’s person-check on the sign-in and Contact forms may set its own cookie to tell people from bots.
Services we rely on
These companies handle information for us so the site can run. Each sees only what its job needs.
- Supabase stores the database and runs sign-in, in the United States.
- Vercel hosts the site and keeps the request logs.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Google Cloud Vision checks a profile photo you upload for adult or violent content before anyone can see it. Google does not keep the photo or use it to train its systems.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a script, is using the sign-in and Contact forms.
- Resend delivers the email the site sends.
- Your browser’s push service (Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft) delivers notifications to a device you turned them on for.
- TMDB supplies film and show details. Posters load straight from TMDB’s servers, so TMDB sees your IP address when a poster loads. We do not send TMDB anything about your account.
Links to other sites, such as a trailer on YouTube or a streaming service, take you to those sites, which have their own policies.
How long we keep it
- Your account and everything in it: until you delete it.
- An address on the invite list: until you delete your account, or until you ask us to remove it.
- Notifications on your board: 30 days.
- Contact messages: the name, email address and account attached to a message are removed after 12 months.
- Hosting logs: for the short periods our hosting providers keep them.
Your choices
- Delete your account in Settings. This removes your profile, ratings, favorites, watchlist, votes, trivia history, badges and notification settings, and takes your email address off the invite list. It cannot be undone. A watch party you host passes to another member.
- Change your username, or turn email and notifications on or off, in Settings.
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, through the Contact page.
Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights over your information. Contact us and we will honor them.
Children
isitCRISPY is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has made an account, tell us through the Contact page and we will delete it.
Where your information is kept
The site is run from the United States and your information is stored there. If you use it from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change affects how we use what we already hold about you, we will say so on the site before it takes effect.
